Wiretap: Republicans can’t change, won’t change on immigration

According to the Washington Post’s Fix, Chris Cillizza, three sentences on immigration reform will come back to haunt Republicans in the 2016 presidential election – and maybe even in the 2014 midterms. They were written as part of a report commission by the Republican National Committee to determine what went wrong for the GOP in the 2012 elections and what to do about it. The sentences go this way:

“We are not a policy committee, but among the steps Republicans take in the Hispanic community and beyond, we must embrace and champion comprehensive immigration reform. If we do not, our Party’s appeal will continue to shrink to its core constituencies only. We also believe that comprehensive immigration reform is consistent with Republican economic policies that promote job growth and opportunity for all.”
