On the free metal canteens, the name of the oil and gas company is written above a recycling symbol. Given how much fracking Encana does in Erie, one parent wrote that green marketing directed toward kids “just adds insult to injury.” A spokesman for the St. Vrain Valley school district said that “Encana is a valued partner […] We’re grateful for their support.” Students can ask their principal for a non-branded water bottle if they so desire.
