The mother of all election nights

This isn’t just any election night. It’s the mother of all elections nights.

We have a presidential race for the history books, two close Congressional races, several tight statehouse races and a menu of ballot issues that will affect, among other things, the way Coloradans pay for health care, where we’re allowed to smoke pot, how we express our preferences in national primary elections, how we qualify issues for the statewide ballot and even how we die.

Lots of folks will be at election watch parties. Some will be watching from bars to either cheer or numb themselves, depending on the results. Others will be curled up on their couches with smart phones in one hand and remote controls in the other.

We at The Indy will be with the candidates, campaign workers, political analysts, voters and even non-voters, gauging the mood in Colorado and explaining what the returns mean by putting it all in context. In addition to our crack team of reporters and freelancers, we’ve got commentary by political columnist Mike Littwin and TV criticism by…. drumbeat… Joanne Ostrow, our former colleague from the old days at The Denver Post.

Please join us here on this frequency (www.coloradoindependent.com) or live on-air intermittently tonight with our friends at KGNU radio (88.5 FM and 1390 AM).

Follow us, Colorado. We’ve got you covered.

The Colorado Independent is a statewide online news source operating in a time when spin is plentiful, but factual, fair and unflinching news in the public interest is all too rare. Our award-winning team of veteran investigative and explanatory reporters and news columnists aims to amplify the voices of Coloradans whose stories are unheard, shine light on the relationships between people, power and policy, and hold public officials to account. We strive to report the news with context, social conscience, and soul, and to give Coloradans the insight they need to promote conversation, understanding and progress in this square, swing state we call home.
