Steve Barlock had raised just under $6,000 before the start of the caucuses in early March, with about half of all donations coming in under $100 apiece, according to the National Institute on Money in State Politics. One man gave him a dollar.
But Barlock isn’t putting a premium on fundraising. Instead, he says he has asked those who want to donate to his campaign to instead put their time and resources into caucusing for him and trying to become a delegate to the Republican Party’s April state assembly where they can cast a ballot on his behalf.
The next filing deadline is May 7.
