Colorado Attorney General candidate debate on March 15. All invited.

The Colorado Criminal Defense Bar (CCDB) and the Community College of Denver (CCD) Paralegal Program are holding a public debate for the candidates seeking the position of Colorado State Attorney General. The debate starts at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 15 in CCD’s Confluence Center on the Auraria campus. Doors open 3:30. A reception will follow.

The current field includes four Democratic candidates and a single Republican candidate. George Brauchler (R), Brad Levin (D) and Amy Padden (D) declined our invitation to participate.

The 90-minute format calls for approximately 10 questions on a variety of issues and topics within the scope of the AG’s office with an emphasis on criminal justice issues. Each candidate will have the opportunity to provide a first response to the questions, with replies to follow. All answers and responses will be governed by a set time limit. At the debate’s conclusion, audience members will have an opportunity to interact with candidates.

The debate is intended to create a meaningful forum where candidates can articulate their positions on a variety of topics relevant to the office they seek, and important to Colorado voters. Please direct any questions about the debate to kathleen.brockel@ccdb.org.

  1. This position is key to the public interest. Will it be streamed live or recorded so that those who cannot attend in person may view?
