When President Bush made his way to Colorado a week ago, local law enforcement assisted with security.
In Denver the police presence was minimal, according to Detective John White with the city’s Public Information Office. He confirmed that one Sergeant and eight Officers briefly covered the event, and estimated the cost was approximately $1,500.
Aurora was a different story.According to Department Public Information Officer, Marcus Dudley, 72-75 officers were working to protect the President.
“Although it was kept to a minimum, there were some officers that were allowed to work off duty, or on extra duty, to assist with that particular security detail,” said Dudley.
The cost to the city was not immediately known.
Bush had flown into Buckley Air Force Base, located in Aurora, before traveling to attend a fundraiser for congressional candidate Rick O’Donnell in Denver.
