Can Shafroth ride the high road to victory?

With Joan Fitz-Gerald and Jared Polis continuing to trade punches in the primary race for the 2nd Congressional District, political newcomer Will Shafroth seems to be consciously staying out of the fray.

The question is whether that high-road approach will gain the former executive director of the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund (GOCO) and Colorado Conservation Trust votes in the Aug. 12 Democratic primary or bump him off the average CD2 voter’s radar.

The Polis campaign last week launched a series of releases criticizing Fitz-Gerald for campaign contributions from mining conglomerates with spotty international environmental and human-rights records.
