SD5 Republican Gets Diluted
You mess with water from the Western Slope and chances are you will be jilted by the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel. That’s what Republican incumbent State Senator, Lew Entz, found out on Thursday.His opponent for the SD5 seat, Gail Schwartz, received the Daily Sentinel’s endorsement on Thursday because the editorial board had noted that Entz cast the deciding voted against a water bill that would have required mitigation for water quality impacts from major water diversion projects.
His vote was against the interests of his own constituents in the 5th, which covers the San Luis Valley to Pitkin County, the paper explained and therefore, Schwartz earned their support.
