Boigon begins petition drive to stop raises

Denver City Council member and candidate for mayor Carol Boigon has launched a petition drive, calling on other candidates and officials to refuse the pay raises recently approved by the Denver City Council.

She will be joined at a press conference this morning by City Auditor Dennis Gallagher, who is also seeking re-election.

“When Denver families are sacrificing, so must our elected officials, said Boigon in a prepared statement.

Added Gallagher, “As your city auditor, I understand firsthand how the economic crisis has impacted our city. I returned my last pay raise to the city and if I’m re-elected, I will continue to stand in solidarity with Denver families and will return the pay raise passed by City Council.”
