Challenger Cites Tancredo’s White Power Ties
He has received thousands of dollars from individuals linked to white supremacy. His words have appeared on what is being called a “hate site,” and it was reported that in September he stood behind a confederate flag-draped podium and spoke to supporters in South Carolina, before joining them to sing Dixie.
But Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo is just now starting to feel localized flack for these actions, and it’s coming from his Democratic challenger in the 6th Congressional District, Bill Winter. “Right wing hate groups have long left felt out in the cold by contemporary politics,” bellows the narrator in a radio spot called “Dateline South Carolina,” produced by the Winter campaign. “Now, they are flocking to Tom Tancredo.”
The Winter camp is criticizing Tancredo for his financial relationships with those connected to white power. Winter will also ask the House Ethics Committee to investigate.

With less than a week until Election Day it’s hard to know if such allegations will make an impression, but it’s an issue that has come up before, and it will probably come up again.
