Police release arrests, jail-processing reports

As of 6 p.m. on Tuesday, police have arrested a total of 135 people since Saturday according to most recent law enforcement reports, which also shed some light on the status of the more than 100 people arrested on Monday during a police standoff where pepper spray and mace were deployed.

About 100 arrested after standoff; police spray activists, bystanders, media

Approximately 100 people were arrested in downtown Denver last night when a coalition of anarchist affinity groups and other activists attempted to march in the streets and were surrounded by hundreds of police in a standoff that lasted more than an hour. Police decked in riot gear shot pepper spray and pepper ball guns at activists, media and bystanders.

A calm political protest quickly turned chaotic as anxious Denver police surrounded protestors peacefully marching toward the Democratic National Convention Center. After trapping the crowd between two buildings, hundreds of officers used pepper spray, batons and unwarranted aggression. After being surrounded for 20 minutes, two American News Project producers managed to escape after recording the whole affair.
