D’Souza lights up Colorado GOP fundraiser with ‘Obama against America’ theory

The Colorado GOP last week hosted bestselling politics author and rhetorical bomb-thrower Dinesh D’Souza. It was the second Capital Club luncheon the party has hosted since "moderate" state party Chair Ryan Call took the reins from Dick Wadhams in March. D'Souza told the crowd President Obama subscribes to an anti-colonial ideology that sets him against the unique American qualities that have made the U.S. great. D'Souza said Obama wants to "take the country down from being number one."

Biden tests out 2012 messaging at renewable energy lab in Colorado

Vice President Joe Biden visited the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado, Friday to announce that Boulder-based U.S. e-Chromic won the first "America’s Next Top Energy Innovator" challenge. Biden used the occasion to lay groundwork for the 2012 election, answering critics on the right who paint government as the enemy of free enterprise and who cast the Obama administration as insufficiently enthused over U.S. achievements or exceptionalism. Biden celebrated the long record of U.S. entrepreneurial success and argued that the relationship between government and industry in America has been vital in making the country a juggernaut of capitalist productivity and a model for countries around the world.

Vice President Joe Biden is coming under serious fire from the conservative blogosphere for “hiding out” in Aspen over the weekend ahead of President Barack Obama’s key speech justifying ongoing U.S. airstrikes in Libya. The website Real Aspen rounds up some of the more heated slams of Biden, who flew into the Eagle County Airport Thursday night and proceeded on Interstate 70 in a motorcade using a “rolling roadblock” along U.S. Highway 82 to Aspen. In Colorado, Biden touts stimulus and new energy economy

LONGMONT-- Vice President Joe Biden here Friday made a strong case for the stimulus program and the need for a full-throttle green energy program, which he said were inextricably linked. “Some say we shouldn’t use tax dollars to provide seed money for green energy, but wouldn’t it be a bitter irony if we got off of foreign oil only to be tethered to foreign technologies in clean energy?”

Markey seeks to emphasize independence at Denver fundraiser

DENVER-- At a fundraiser featuring Vice President Joe Biden here Friday afternoon, Colorado Congresswoman Betsy Markey toed the line she has tread since she was elected in 2008 to the seat held by hard-right social conservative Marilyn Musgrave in the mostly agrarian Front Range Fourth District. Markey, one of the swing so-called "blue dog" moderate Democratic members of Congress, talked to the crowd of roughly 150 people at the Sheraton about the value of independent political thinking and her non-lawyer, non-politician entrepreneurial background.
