$1 million in AmeriCorps grants for Colorado announced

Lt.Gov Joseph A. Garcia this week is distributing more than $1 million to four Colorado organizations through Serve Colorado, the Governor’s Commission on Community Service. The funding comes from AmeriCorps grants from the Corporation for National and Community Service. In July, Serve Colorado will announce additional grants supported by $2,437,386 in AmeriCorps money.

Colorado back in Race to the Top

It was announced Wednesday that Colorado is one nine states to be eligible to apply for the third round of Race to the Top funds to augment state local funding for Colorado schools.

John Hickenlooper sworn in as 42nd governor

John Hickenlooper was sworn in today as Colorado’s 42nd governor as flags flew at half mast to honor the dead and injured in Arizona.
