In case you missed it, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that Virginia's ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. Yes, it's big news, but it's not exactly groundbreaking news. Not any more. Maybe not ever again.
District Court Judge C. Scott Crabtree issued an order this morning allowing Denver County Clerk Debra Johnson to continue issuing same-sex marriage licenses despite a request from Attorney General John Suthers for an emergency injunction that would have stopped her.
The movement to bring gay marriage to Colorado has proceeded at breakneck pace, building great momentum that critics of Attorney General John Suthers fear he is attempting a in recent legal maneuver to derail.
"In other words, the legal debate about this question will be suspended in Colorado as we await finality from the 10th Circuit or U.S. Supreme Court."
