Tancredo rides into the sunset speaking Spanish; Allard is, well, Allard

As Colorado’s newest members of Congress are being sworn in and readying their offices, the messages for two of the Centennial State’s outgoing federal lawmakers have been less than flattering. Indeed, a Denver Post profile about former Rep. Tom Tancredo and retired Sen. Wayne Allard has hardly turned out to be swan songs for the lawmakers, at least to the many who’ve left comments of response.

Musgrave wins spot on Top 5 gay and lesbian ‘villains and...

Adding insult to, well, insult, the social action network change.org ranks defeated U.S. Rep. Marilyn Musgrave among its Top Five LGBT Villains and Villainesses...

Big 3 bailout votes split by party lines, campaign contributors

It doesn't come as much surprise that the Colorado congressional delegation's votes on the $14 billion financial bailout of the U.S. auto industry split along party lines. The House Dems supported the bill while their Republican counterparts, CD 5's Doug Lamborn and CD 4's Marilyn Musgrave, rejected the plan. Retiring Rep. Tom Tancredo did not vote. Where it gets interesting is the apparent correlation between partisan vote splitting and which special interest group supports said lawmaker.

Musgrave thanks, blesses Coloradans 36 days after thumping CD 4 defeat

The Musgrave Concession Watch is still ticking, but Republican Marilyn Musgrave, the outgoing 4th Congressional District congresswoman, emerged Wednesday to thank "volunteers, staff and voters" who supported her during three terms in Congress in a guest commentary published by The Denver Post. Pondering what might have happened "if I had backed away from protecting the unborn, or traditional marriage, or if I had supported massive government spending increases," Musgrave concludes she did right by bucking her party once in awhile, or at least sticking by her principles, and vows that voters haven't heard the last from her.

Musgrave-Markey spat raises question: Are campaign lies a crime?

In Colorado, recklessly making false statements about candidates who are running for public office is a criminal offense. But, years after the strict sanctions were adopted, no one has gone to jail for knowingly lying about their political enemies — indeed many say that making such a case stick would be nearly impossible.

Chambliss got help from Focus on the Family, as well as...

Rep. Marilyn Musgrave has generated plenty of attention for finally conceding — at least in a robocall to Georgia voters — that she lost her reelection bid to Democrat Betsy Markey in Colorado. But Musgrave is not the only Coloradan who lent a helping hand in efforts to reelect U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss in this week’s special run-off election in Georgia. Colorado Springs-based Focus on the Family also donated a reported $35,310 worth of radio ads boosting Chambliss.

Musgrave finally concedes election — in robocall to 200,000 Georgians

Soon-to-be-former U.S. Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, neither seen nor heard in the four weeks since her thumping loss to Democratic challenger Betsy Markey, finally made that phone call. Thing is, it wasn't a concession call to Markey, and it wasn't a call to thank her supporters. No, the lame duck Republican lent her voice to a robocall for the Georgia Senate run-off election on Tuesday, blaming "leftist special interests" for her defeat.

Unit of delay, ‘Where’s Marilyn?’ family game spawned by Musgrave antics

This started out as the latest installment of the Marilyn Musgrave Concession Watch — we're approaching 21 days since the Colorado Republican lost her 4th District congressional seat to Democrat Betsy Markey, and she still hasn't conceded the race or even thanked her supporters — but at some point that just feels like piling on. So we'll turn to Denver Post columnist Ed Quillen and the Greeley Tribune's Mike Peters, who did some piling on of their own this weekend.

‘Flak Bash’: Tancredo skunked, Musgrave loss made even more bitter

It wasn't such a festive night for two outgoing Colorado Republicans at Wednesday's swanky Quinn Gillespie & Associates "Flak Bash" party honoring the year's best political media mavens.

Musgrave Concession Watch: Day 14

Not only has lame-duck Rep. Marilyn Musgrave still refused to concede to Betsy Markey, but the word is around D.C. that the Fort Morgan Republican has gone into hiding since the 12-point drubbing that cost the three-term congresswoman her seat. "[More] rumors abound that no one has seen or talked to Musgrave since the brutal loss; she’s all but disappeared," Politico's Anne Schroeder Mullins reported Tuesday morning.
